This degree does not qualify a student for any teaching certificate in the State of Alabama. This degree is designed to meet the needs of those students who are interested in pursuing work as a means of personal development and/or preparation for certain professional areas requiring a master’s degree. To be admitted to this program, the prospective student must meet all requirements for admission to the School of Graduate Studies. Baccalaureate level certification in a teaching field. Prior to receiving certification in school counseling, two years of appropriate experience, at least one of which must be in teaching, is required. GMAT/GRE is required.

Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above for last 60 hours of courses taken.

Students meet on main campus prior to the start of classes in January to attend an all-day orientation with incoming students taking classes in Bellingham.

Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in the last 90 quarter or 60 semester credits of undergraduate and graduate study.

Three current references are required.

Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test scores - current within the past 5 years.
