6 Semester hours of Internship in Counseling

To be admitted to this program, the prospective student must meet all requirements for admission to the School of Graduate Studies, including fingerprints/verification of background clearance, and hold valid baccalaureate level certification in a teaching field. Two years of satisfactory educational experience is required prior to the issuance of the Class A Certificate.

This program is available online for those students who have obtained a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and who are professionally licensed to teach.

All online students attend a two weeks on campus study at the UMass Dartmouth campus where they complete two clinical courses. Students complete field experiences in school settings through the practicum and internship. The field experiences may be completed in local schools where students reside, and they must be supervised via an approved site supervisor and via weekly online chat sessions.

One year full-time teaching experience.

4 on campus one-week intensives
Online courses are delivered in an 8-week format.

Regionally or nationally accredited bachelor’s degree with at least a 3.0 GPA for admission in good standing.

Undergraduate prerequisites (can be taken after admission)
6 credit hours in Psychology
3 credit hours in Statistics (can be MATH 201)

TOEFL scores for students who speak English as a second language (score of 600 paper-based test; 250 computer-based test; 100 internet-based test)
